A powerful force in the key, Bill McCadney swept the boards for 15 rebounds a game as a senior in 1957-58, a season that saw the Rams go 16-9 and advance to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
For his career, McCadney pulled down 968 rebounds, a total good for third on Fordham's all-time rebounding list at the time. In addition, McCadney was also a consistent scorer, averaging 10.6 points per game in his sophomore year, and 13.2 as both a junior and senior, good for a career 12.3 points per game average. McCadney was written up in the New York newspapers as one of the top defensive centers in the Northeast region.
McCadney was coached by the legendary John Bach, class of 1948, who went on to a long-time NBA career as an assistant coach and was inducted into the Fordham Athletics Hall of Fame in 1974.
