A 1973 Fordham College graduate, Frederick Miller was one of the top runners, who regularly reached All-American status in the 1970s.
As a freshman, Miller was an indoor Metropolitan Conference 600-meter champion as well as an IC4A medley relay champion in Madison Square Garden. He ran the fastest leg of the one mile relay as a junior, helping the Rams set the school record of 3:11.8. Miller was the anchor of Fordham's one-mile relay team as a senior, a team which won at the Knights of ColumbusGames and won th "John G. Anderson" Millrose Games one-mile relay , the highlight and losing event of the prestigious Millrose Games. The one-mile relay the also was in the final four of the 1973 NCAA Indoor Championship.
A team captain, Miller set the Fordham 600-meter record in 1972. Following graduation, he had kept his hand in track, serving as the head coach for the Fordham Prep Track Team for four years.
