In 1964, Fr. George J. McMahon, S.J., was instrumental in bringing football back to Rose Hill after a ten-year hiatus.
As well as establishing Fordham football on a club sport level, Fr. McMahon also served as the moderator to the student band, which can be heard at all Ram football and basketball games.
McMahon has also received additional notoriety for his prowess as an intramural athlete, particularly in basketball, and was regarded by many as the premier passer the Lombardi Center has ever produced.
McMahon received his Master's Degree in Philosophy from Fordham in 1952. He served as the Dean of Fordham College from 1962-74, and then transitioned to Vice President for Lincoln Center.
