Ray Montgomery was an offensive force for the Fordham Baseball team in the late 1980s.

Montgomery, who was drafted by the Houston Astros, left Fordham with school records for most hits (75) and RBI (50) in a season, and tied the record for longest hitting streak at 21 games.  He was named Second Team All-American in 1990 when he hit .429 with 15 doubles, four home runs, and 48 RBI.  He also finished second in the nation in stolen bases that year with 45 (1.02/game) and his .429 batting average was fourth-best in the nation.  Montgomery led the 1990 team to the ECAC Championship and to the NCAA Midwest Regional and the 1988 team to the ECAC Championship and to the NCAA Northeast Regional.

Montgomery hit the ground running at Fordham, establishing a Fordham single season RBI mark with 50 as a freshman and being named MAAC Co-Player of the Year in 1988.  He led the team in RBI all three year and compiled a career .372 batting average with 32 doubles, seven triples, 11 home runs, and 121 RBI.  He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the fifth round of the 1990 MLB Draft and played in their organization for eight seasons before moving to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
