A punishing and athletic defensive back, Bob "Rock" Hill firmly and reliably established himself in the Ram secondary during his freshman season and remained there through the next three seasons.

An All-Metro defensive back both his freshman and sophomore seasons, Hill served as Ram tri-captain in both his junior and senior seasons. During his senior year, he led the team in unassisted tackles with 41, in addition to 35 assists and 3 interceptions, including one which he returned 68 yards for a touchdown in his final game.
