A fundamentally sound ball handler and excellent passer, Allan "Buzzy" Larkin was a starting guard who helped lead Fordham to consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament in the early 1950's.

In the 1952-53 season, Fordham went 18-8 and earned its first ever NCAA berth. Larkin emerged as a key player in the Ram attack, averaging 10.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 73 percent from the line.

As a senior in 1953-54, Larkin directed a powerful offense and again led Fordham to an 18-8 record and a bid to the NCAA tourney. He was written up extensively in the New York newspapers for holding the leading scorer in the nation from Temple University, Bob Mvkly known as "The Owl without a Vowel", to one field goal. At the time, Mvkly was averaging better than 30 points per game. Larkin helped the Rams post an overall record of 56 wins and 24 losses.
