At the time of his induction, Robert "Bob" Melvin ranked fifth on the Fordham all-time scoring list with 1,323 points and ninth on the all-time rebounding list with 611. He was a model of consistency over three seasons, scoring 431, 437, and 455 points in those seasons and earning All-Metropolitan honors in each seasons.
He averaged 18.1 points per game over 73 contests, which was third all-time at Fordham. He led the Rams in scoring twice at 18.7 points in 1960-61 and 17.5 in 1962-63, as well as rebounding twice (1960-61 - 9.6 rpg; 1961-62 - 7.9 rpg).
He along side Jim Manhardt helped Fordham to the 1963 NIT and an 18-8 record and was the Terrence J. O'Donnell Award at the 1963 Block F Awards dinner.
