John Dziegel took over as Head Athletic Trainer following World War II as the second ever Athletic Trainer, taking over for Hall of Fame Athletic Trainer Jake Weber.

Dziegel served as Head Athletic Trainer into the late 1960's, keeping student-athletes healthy throughout three decades of service, which including all-time Fordham icons Ed Conlin, Tom Courtney, and Roger Franz.
