The captain of the strong Fordham indoor track team in his senior season, Paul Nowicki was a member of the NCAA indoor two-mile championship relay team. That race earned him All-American honors, and also marked the third time that a father and son were both NCAA gold medalists. Paul's father Joe, also a Fordham Hall of Famer, won the 800 at the 1943 NCAA Championships. Nowicki was also a member of the Rams' cross country squads at Rose Hill, and in his senior season he just missed a course record as Fordham upended Seton Hall.
