J. Michael Lemke, Jr., a 1996 graduate of the College of Business Administration, paired with Mark Gibbons, to form the most decorated pair of men's rowers in Fordham history. Lemke and Gibbons teamed to win national collegiate championships in varsity events all four years at Fordham. This feat is even more impressive when you take into account that there are fewer than 20 college rowers in the history of college rowing to win major national college championships all four years of college.
Â
In their freshman and sophomore years, Gibbons and Lemke paired to win the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regatta while in their junior year, they won the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship and qualified for the Henley Royal Regatta in Great Britain. Gibbons also won a Canadian Henley championship during the summer of his junior year.
Â
The pair capped their senior season with a win at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta. Lemke was also honored for his work in the classroom, being named an Academic All-American his sophomore, junior, and senior year.
Â
Following graduation, Lemke rowed for the NYAC for five years, winning several championships including US Nationals and Canadian Henley titles.
