When Francis Cavanaugh came to Rose Hill in 1927, Fordham had never been a football power. Under his leadership, they became one. It took him two years to build, but in 1929 he had an undefeated team. In 1930, his Rams lost only once. In his last four seasons at Fordham, the last four of his illustrious life, his record was 27-4-4.
