Susan Amelio Voltz, a 1983 graduate of the College of Business Administration, was a four-year member of the swimming team, helping the Rams to four straight winning seasons from 1979-83. Amelio Voltz set numerous school records that were unbroken until the early 1990's and she won the Claire Hobbs Award as the Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 1981.

Named team Most Valuable Player her first three years, Amelio Voltz qualified for several league and state championships during that time. During her first three years at Fordham, she competed at the AIAW Division II National Championships, receiving AIAW All-America honors in the 100 backstroke as a junior in 1982.

As a senior, the AIAW was incorporated into the NCAA as Amelio Voltz qualified for the NCAA Eastern Championships and was part of the 200 and 400 Free Relay teams that set Fordham school records at the event. In the classroom, she won the Gold Medal of Economics in 1983.
