Hall of Fame
A 1937 graduate of Fordham University, Francis J. Mautte performed on Fordham's grid iron during the 1934-36 seasons. During that time he earned All-Met and All-East honors. He was named to the All-American team both in 1935 and '36. Coached by Jim Crowley during the Blocks of Granite years, Mautte is remembered for his 1935 fumble recover and 87 yard touchdown run which led to a 13-7 Ram victory over Vanderbilt. In 1936, the 155 pound halfback captained his team through a one-loss season

After graduation, Mautte played for one year in the professional level as a member of the New York Giants before entering Military service.
