Playing tackle on the original "Seven Blocks of Granite" along with fellow inductees Walter Tracey and Mike Miskinis, Foley was part of an overpowering line which opened run ways for Jim Murphy, and fellow inductees John Janis, halfback, and fullback Charlie Pieculewicz. During Foley's senior year, the original "Blocks" dominated the line so effectively the Rams outscored their opponents 215 to 29, while twice scoring more than 70 points. He earned All-American status in his senior season.
