James Blumenstock played for the Fordham football team from 1939-41.
Playing both running back and punter, Blumenstock had a big role in the 1941 Cotton Bowl, scoring on a 15-yard touchdown to get Fordham within a point, 13-12, against Texas A&M. He rushed for 42 yards and a score, while catching one pass for 17 yards. He also punted seven times for a 29.7 yards per punt average. He earned All-American status in 1941.
He was also a part of the Rams' 1942 Sugar Bowl Championship, defeating Missouri, 2-0, as the team racked up 137 rushing yards for the game.
In his post-Fordham career, Blumenstock played one season for the New York Giants.
