Lou DeFilippo was football captain and an All-American center in 1940. He played four seasons with the New York Giants and later served as an assistant coach at Fordham for eight years. Former football coach at East Meadow High School in New York for seven years and Derby High School in Connecticut for eight years, he had a 15- year coaching record of 116-15-6.
 
He also coached at Yale University, Columbia University, Purdue University, and for the Baltimore Colts.
