John "Jack" Burik was a two-sport star for the Rams, playing on both the men's basketball and baseball teams.
As a sophomore, Burik led the Rams in field goal percentage (.492)
One of the team captains for the legendary 1970-71 Fordham men's basketball team that went 26-3 and made the NCAA Tournament. In his final game as a Ram against South Carolina in the NCAA Eastern Regional consolation game, Burik scored 23 points of 8-of-14 shooting and 7-for-7 from the free throw lin in a 100-90 win. For his career, he played in 79 games, averaging 8.4 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per contest.
On the diamond, he was a two-year captain, appearing in 51 games over three seasons. He posted a career batting average of .309 to go with 38 runs scored, nine double, four home runs, and 36 RBI. As a senior in 1971, he hit a team-best .389 with 21 RBI in 19 games.
