Bette Ann Speliotis Liguori is a 1983 graduate of Fordham College and was a mainstay with the women’s tennis squad in the early 1980’s. She moved into the number one singles position in the fall of her freshman year, leading the team to a 21-1 record, including a perfect 12-0 slate in the spring. She also played at number one singles as a sophomore, guiding the team to a 25-1 overall record, and as a junior when she was named the team’s Most Valuable Player.Â

As a senior, she led the team to the 1982 New York State A.I.A.W. Women’s College Tennis Championship title and a perfect 26-0 record along with the 1983 MAAC Championship. She capped her career by receiving the 1982 Claire Hobbs Memorial Award as the female student-athlete of the year.
