Dr. Tom Harter, a 1971 graduate of Fordham College, was a three year started at defensive back. As a sophomore in 1968, Harter was a 1st team Club All-American for the National Club Championship team. Harter led the country with 11 interceptions that season, while ranking third in punt returns. The next season Harter tied for sixth in the country in interceptions, earning honorable mention All-American honors. He was a vital part of a defense that ranked first in the nation in both rushing and scoring. The Fordham program was elevated to Division III for his senior season, and Harter was a first team All-New York State selection, while also winning the Madow Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the Fordham-Manhattan game.
