Ed Brown played for the Fordham football team for three seasons from 1950-52.
Earning All-Catholic and All-America honors, Brown set the Fordham single season receptions as well as the national record in 1952, catching 58 passes in eight games, surpassing the national mark of 55 by North Carolina's Art Weiner and the Fordham mark of 38 by Al Pfeifer. Sitting 12 receptions shy of the record, he had an amazing game against NYU, catching 15 passes for 233 yards and scored three touchdowns. He was awarded the 1952 Madow Trophy, given annually to the most outstanding player in the Fordham-NYU contest by a vote of the writers covering the game. He ended the 1952 season with six total touchdowns.
In addition to the receptions record, he also set national marks for single season yards (776), catches and yards in a game (15 for 233 vs. NYU), and receptions over a two-year span (98 - 1951-52).
