Gerard Curran was a member of the Fordham swimming team, serving as team captain for the 1952-53 season.

Curran was a three-time ECAC champion in the 200-yard backstroke, establishing the ECAC record at 2:20.5.  He also won the 1953 ECAC title in the 100-yard backstroke in a record time of 1:01.5.  Additionally, he was the Metropolitan Champion in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard medley relay.

Curran set a pool record his senior season against Syracuse, finishing the 200-yard backstroke in 2:19.
