Salvatore Chiaramonte was the first baseball player in Fordham's history to be named to the NCAA District 2 All-Star baseball team. This team was comprised of representatives from 66 colleges.

This occurred in 1952, also the first year that Fordham's baseball team ever made the NCAA playoffs.

While at Fordham, he was considered the best right-handed pitcher since Hank Borowy with a record of 18-5 over four years and a batting average of .300. He was also selected to the professional ranks by the Milwaukee Braves, New York Yankees, and the Detroit Tigers.
