Zambetti was a two-time Academic All-American who averaged 12.5 points and 5.7 rebounds for the 1971-72 NIT team. A year earlier, Zambetti was a key contributor for the Rams' 26-3 NCAA squad. In his first year at Rose Hill the Fordham Prep Graduate led the freshmen team with a 22.3 scoring average.
