A 1979 graduate of Fordham College, Liz McGovern played basketball for the women's basketball team for two seasons (1977-79).

In her two years at Rose Hill, McGovern scored over 900 points and grabbed over 500 rebounds.  With her help, the Rams posted a two-year record of 52-13, including an appearance in the 1978 Final Four of the AIAW Small College National Tournament.  In 1979, Fordham captured the New York State AIAW Championship and advanced to the final of the AIAW National Tournament, where they fell to Tennessee.

McGovern shared the school records for most assists (17) and steals (8) in a game when she graduated.
