Boston, Mass. – (February 10, 2023) – The Fordham Rams kicked off another busy weekend in track & field on Friday, as the women's team opened competition at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational, held at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston.
Highlighting the day,
Tiffany Hanna broke her own school record mark in the weight throw event with a distance of 58' 2", good for seventh overall, besting her previous mark of 57' 2 ¾" back in December. She also placed 24
th in the shot put event with a mark of 36' 4 ¼". Teammate
Casey Metzler just missed a top 20 finish in the weight throw, taking 22
nd with a mark of 49' 1".
Other field event competitors were
Leia Ruvo and
Alexandra Manetovic in the high jump event, as both tied for 18
th in the high jump event, clearing 5' 1 ¼", while Manetovic also took part in the triple jump event, placing 21
st with a mark of 36' ¾". Then in the long jump,
Skylar Harris finished 12
th overall with a season-best distance of 17' 10 ¾".
On the track,
Helen Connolly had a season-best performance in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:14.69 (109
th), finishing ahead of teammate
Molly Mulvaney (2:18.95 – 145
th),
Marin Bogulski (2:18.96 – 146
th),
Jilli Jones (2:19.76 – 164
th), and
Taylor Mascetta (2:21.22 – 178
th).
Connolly also ran in the 1,000-meter event with
Mary Kathryn Underwood. She finished 44
th overall in 2:58.36, while Underwood was 55
th overall in 3:01.06. Underwood also competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing in a season-best time of 59.30 seconds (111
th).
Dillyn Green also competed in the sprinting events, tying for 13
th in the open 60-meter dash at 8.01 seconds and placing 73
rd in the 200-meter dash in 25.52 seconds.
The final event of the night for the Rams was the unseeded 3,000-meter run.
Nathania Tan posted a season-best time of 10:18.81 (224
th), followed by
Caroline McDonagh (10:22.12 – 235
th),
Alexandra Thomas (10:24.50 – 243
rd), and
Madeleine Ryan (10:37.98 – 272
nd).
The Rams will conclude their stay at the Valentine Invitational with the men competing on Saturday. Fordham will also be taking part in the 4x400 relays at the Millrose Games, held at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York.
