Track & Field Has Big First Day at ECAC/IC4A Championship

Fordham Women in Fifth Place After Day One, While Men Are Tied for 11th

Piscataway, N.J. – (April 18, 2026) – The Fordham track & field team made its way back to Piscataway, New Jersey for 2026 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend.
 
After day one, the Fordham women sit in fifth place with 36.5 points, while the men are tied for 11th with 16 points.
 
WOMEN'S DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Fordham scored points in five events on Saturday and are set up to score in two more on Sunday.
  • The day was highlighted by Meredith Gotzman winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:50.16, while Quincy Biddle scored second in 11:11.24.
  • Zoe Arakelian finished runner-up in the high jump, clearing 5' 6" for second place.
  • Alexandra Williams placed fifth in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 56.41 seconds.
  • In the 1,500 meter run, Brenna Sears scored fifth overall in 4:38.33.
  • Michaela Gier tied for eighth in the pole vault, clearing 11' 2 ¼".
  • Fabianna Szorenyi just missed scoring in the 5,000-meter run, finishing ninth in 17:44.00.
  • Kylie Ritz qualified seventh for Sunday's 100-meter hurdles final with a school record time of 14.18, bettering her own mark.
  • Through four events of the women's heptathlon, Leia Ruvo sits in third place with 2,846 points, finishing second in the 200-meter dash (26.03) and high jump (5' 3"), fifth in the shot put (31' 9 ¼"), and eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.27).
 
MEN'S DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Fordham found the scoring column in four events on Saturday.
  • Bradford Duchesne (31:33.95) and Nicolas Grabarz (32:59.40) scored third and fifth respectively in the 10,000-meter run.
  • Sean Reidy scored seventh in the 1,500 meter run, posting a time of 3:57.15, while Daniel DiTunno also took seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:24.33.
  • James Alati grabbed seventh in the javelin throw with a throw of 184' 9".
  • Jimmy Hernandez just missed scoring in the 5,000-meter run, placing ninth in 14:55.58.
  • Through five events of the men's decathlon, George Pomer is in eighth place with 3,030 points, taking first in the high jump (6' 2 ¾"), sixth in the shot put (33' 8"), seventh in the 400-meter dash (54.42), tenth in the long jump (19' 2 ¾"), and 12th in the 100-meter dash.

  • The Championships concludes on Sunday with competition starting at 10:00 AM.
