Two Women’s Track Records Set at 2026 Penn Relays

Women’s Distance Medley Relay Sets New School Mark at 11:30.02, while Zoe Arakelian Matches School Record in Women’s High Jump

Philadelphia, Pa. – (April 24, 2026) – The Fordham track & field team opened a two-day stint at the annual Penn Relays, held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Fordham women competed in four events on Friday, qualifying for one Sunday final while setting school records in two other events.
  • The day began with the distance medley relay team of Meredith Gotzman, Alexandra Williams, Brenna Sears, and Jodie Pierce setting a new school record with a time of 11:30.02, finishing tenth overall.They broke the previous mark of 11:34.28 in 2019 by Laurel Fisher, Sarrinagh Budris, Aidan Moroz, and Katarzyna Krzyzanowski, which was also accomplished at the Penn Relays.
  • Next up were the Eastern heats of the 4x100 relay, where Kylie Ritz, Leia Ruvo, Williams, and Nicole Lytle qualified second for Sunday's final with a time of 47.20 seconds.
  • The Rams' second school record performance came in the high jump, as Zoe Arakelian cleared 5' 8 ¾" for second place overall and tied the school record of Kerstin Greene, originally set in 2007.
  • Fordham's final event was the College 4x400 heats, where Alondra Baez, Ruvo, Lytle, and Dillyn Green finished 18th overall in 4:02.68.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Fordham men also competed in four events on Friday.
  • In the heats of the college 4x100 relay, Liam Volz, Nelson Lindsay, Matthew Nurse, and Sam Freeman placed 18th overall in 42.79 seconds.
  • In the javelin throw, James Alati took 20th overall with a distance of 139' 3".
  • In the College Sprint Medley Relay Championship of America, Fordham's team of Volz, Eben Tyre, Darren Croke, and Will Spierdowis finished 20th in 3:35.94.
  • The final entry on Friday was in the heats of the college 4x400 relay, where Kevin Callaghan, Tyre, Nurse, and Freeman were 24th overall in 3:19.11.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Rams are in two Saturday events, starting with the College Eastern Women's 4x100 Relay final at 4:00 PM, while the heats of the College Men's 4x800 Relay are at 5:00 PM.
