Track & Field Runs at Penn 8 Team Select Meet

Ryan Kutch & Men’s 4x400 Relay Post IC4A Qualifiers

Staten Island, N.Y. – (January 18, 2020) – While the snow was falling outside, the Fordham track & field team was heating up inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, competing in the Penn 8 Team Select Meet.
 
Fordham ended up seventh out of ten teams in the men's competition with 23 points, while the women tied for tenth out of 11 teams with four points.
 
The Rams had a number of season-best marks, which included a pair of IC4A qualifiers.  Ryan Kutch finished third in the mile run in an IC4A qualifying time of 4:06.60, a career-best by Kutch, while the 4x400 relay team of Antony Misko, Kyle Mack, Erik Brown, and Arthur Gooden Jr. also finished third in an IC4A qualifying time of 3:18.51.
 
Aside from those two performances, Nikolas Reardon had the top finish of the night, taking second in the high jump, clearing 6' 6 ¾", while grabbing sixth in the triple jump at 43' ¼".  Misko and Gooden took fifth and eighth respectively in the 400 meter dash in 49.52 and 49.76 seconds, both season-bests, with Christopher Strzelinski finishing seventh in the 800 meters in a season-best time of 1:54.08.  Brandon Hall also posted a season-best time, finishing 13th in the 3,000 meters in 8:36.02, while Ryan McGraw was eighth in the triple jump at 39' 8"..

In the throwing events, Alec Wargo had a season-best in the shot put with a distance of 40' 2 ¾" (16th), while taking 11th in the weight throw (48' 4").
 
Over on the women's side, Alexandra Thomas was the top performer, taking fifth in the 3,000 meter run in a season-best time of 10:07.29.  The Rams had two other top ten finishes on the night as Kathryn Kelly tied for tenth in the 200 meter dash at 25.12 seconds, while the 4x400 relay of Sarinnagh Budris, Helen Connolly, Dominique Valentine, and Kelly placed seventh in a season-best time of 3:59.06.
 
Budris and Connolly also had season-best time in their individual events, as Budris was 16th in the 400 meter dash in 58.66 seconds, while Connolly placed 20th in the 800 meter run in 2:19.80.
 
Other notable performances for the women were Sydney Snow in the mile run (19th – 5:08.84), Amanda Gurth in the shot put (16th – 37' 5 ¼"), and Casey Metzler in the weight throw (19th – 40' 1 ½").
 
The Rams are back in action on January 24-25, as the team heads to Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
