Track & Field Takes Part in Two Meets on Friday

Rams Finish Fourth & Sixth at Metropolitan Championship, while Opening Competition at Dalton Ebanks Invitational in Virginia

Randall's Island, N.Y./Fairfax, Va. – (April 3, 2026) – The Fordham track & field team was once again on double duty on Friday, taking part in the 2026 Metropolitan Outdoor Track & Field Championship held at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island, while also starting competition at the two-day Dalton Ebanks Invitational, hosted at George Mason University.
 
FRIDAY'S DALTON EBANKS INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Fordham competed in four events on day one at George Mason, starting with Leia Ruvo, placing 30th in the women's collegiate long jump with a distance of 16' 4 ¼".
  • In the women's collegiate 400-meter hurdles, Nicole Lytle placed 18th overall in a time of 1:06.04.
  • Then in the men's collegiate 200-meter dash, Sam Freeman was 17th overall in 21.72 seconds, while Liam Volz was 44th in 22.48 seconds.
  • Lastly was the women's collegiate 200-meter dash, where Alexandra Williams ran a season-best time of 24.94 seconds, good for 20th overall, while Caroline Fallona ran a personal-best time of 26.92 seconds (78th overall).
 
METROPOLITAN CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Fordham women placed fourth out of 13 teams, scoring 58 points in the team competition.
  • The Rams won two events on the day, starting with the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as Quincy Biddle took first in an ECAC qualifying time of 11:05.68, while Ciara McGroary scored sixth in the event with a personal-best time of 12:01.24.
  • Zoe Arakelian then won the high jump event, clearing 5' 5", with teammate Katelin Cruikshank scoring fourth by clearing 5' 1".
  • Michaela Gier finished second in the pole vault, clearing 10' 10".
  • In the 1,500 meters, Fordham's duo of Alexis Smith (4:47.63) and Lauren Raimy (4:49.32) scored fourth and fifth, respectively.
  • Sarah Cooley competed in all fourth throwing events, scoring third in the javelin throw (121' 2") and sixth in the shot put (37' 0"), while placing 12th in the discus throw (102' 7") and 14th in the hammer throw (113' 0").
  • Grace Kenny was the final individual scorer in the 5,000-meter run, taking eighth in 19:24.98.
  • The final scoring event for the Rams was the 4x400 relay, where Sophia Oliva, Marisa House, Kathleen Keefe, and Jayde Lim finished sixth in 4:21.84.

METROPOLITAN CHAMPIONSHIP MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Fordham men placed sixth out of 12 teams, scoring 58.5 points in the team competition.
  • Noah Rubenstein ended up scoring in two of the three events he competed in, taking second in the shot put with a season-best mark of 47' 7 ¾" and third in the discus throw at 140' 11".
  • Patrick Torres tied for third in the high jump event, clearing 6' ¾", while Kenan Andrews was sixth in the long jump with a mark of 20' 10 ¾".
  • Jimmy Hernandez scored fifth overall in the 1,500 meters, posting a time of 4:04.08.
  • A trio of Rams scored in the 110-meter hurdles with George Pomer in fourth (15.90), James Alati in sixth (16.04), and Luke Cramer in seventh (16.21).
  • Cramer also scored seventh in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 43' 8 3/4".
  • Alati and Pomer also scored in the javelin throw with Alati in fourth place (165' 9") and Pomer in sixth (163' 1"), while Pomer netted points in the discus throw as well, finishing seventh (110' 2").
  • In the 800-meter run, Eben Tyre scored sixth overall in a time of 1:56.68 with Will Spierdowis right behind him in seventh with a personal-best time of 1:56.95.
  • The Rams' last scorer was Nicolas Grabarz in the 5,000-meter run, taking fourth in 15:37.73.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Rams finish up at Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Saturday, while other Fordham runners will be at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton.
