Track & Field Begins Competition at #A10OTF Championship

Rams Score in Three Day One Events; Qualify for Six Sunday Finals

Fairfax, Va. – (May 2, 2026) – The Fordham track & field team opened competition on Saturday at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which is being held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
 
WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
  • After day one of the women's championship, Fordham is in 12th place with 2.33 points, as only five events were scored.
  • The sixth scoring event, the 3,000-meter steeplechase, was postponed until Sunday.
  • The Rams scored in two of the five completed events, beginning with Michaela Gier tying for eighth in the pole vault, clearing a season-best height of 11' 3".
  • Sarah Cooley also scored on day one, placing seventh in the javelin throw with a distance of 124' 3".She also took 15th overall in the hammer throw (133' 10").
  • The Rams also made three Sunday finals, starting with Jodie Pierce, who qualified third in the 1,500 meters in 4:31.21.
  • Alexandra Williams is the next Sunday finalist in the 400-meter dash, qualifying eighth in 56.76 seconds, as did Brenna Sears, who qualified seventh in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 2:11.05.
  • Kylie Ritz just missed the finals in both hurdle events, taking ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.23) and 13th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.99 – season-best time).
  • Leia Ruvo is on pace to score in the heptathlon event through four events with a score of 2,940 points, which is currently fourth.She was second in the high jump (5' 5 ¾"), sixth in the 200 meters (26.00), eighth in the shot put (33' 4 ½"), and tenth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.44).
  • Other top performers on Saturday were Caroline Fallona, who was 25th in the 100-meter dash (12.57), and Fabianna Szorenyi, who was 13th in the 10,000-meter run (37:13.32).
 
MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
  • After day one of the men's championship, Fordham is in 10th place with three points, as only six events were scored.
  • Fordham managed to score on one event on Saturday, as James Alati finished sixth in the javelin throw with a season-best mark of 185' 2".
  • The Rams also found their way into three Sunday finals, beginning with the 1,500 meters, where Sean Reidy qualified third with a season-best time of 3:49.39.
  • Menzel Thomas qualified eighth in the 110-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.81 seconds, while Ben Borchers qualified fifth in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 1:51.83.
  • George Pomer is currently in a scoring position halfway through the decathlon with 2,824 points, which is eighth overall.He was fifth in the high jump (6' 1 ½"), eighth in the shot put (32' 5 ¼") and 400 meters (56.07), tenth in the long jump (18' 9 ¾"), and 12th in the 100 meters (12.42).
  • Sam Freeman just missed making the finals in the 200 and 400 meters, finishing ninth (21.60) and tenth (48.24), respectively.
  • Other top performers on Saturday were Noah Rubenstein in the hammer throw (15th – 124' 7" – season-best), Kenan Andrews in the long jump (12th – 21' 11 ½" – season-best), C.J. Weddington in the 100-meter dash (15th – 10.96), Daniel DiTunno in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11th – 9:28.53), and Bradford Duchesne in the 10,000 meters (11th – 32:16.28).
