Track & Field Completes Competition at Dr. Sander Scorcher

Fordham Posts Five Top Ten Finishes on Saturday

New York, N.Y. – (January 24, 2026) – The Fordham track & field team finished its two-day stint at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, hosted by Columbia University at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory on Saturday.
 
MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Rams competed in various versions of the mile run, 200 meters, and shot put events on Saturday.
  • A trio of Fordham runners were in the open mile run, led by John Corrigan in 12th place at 4:18.15, followed by Darren Croke in 36th (4:24.33) and Matthew Febles in 47th (4:26.98).
  • In the shot put open division, Noah Rubenstein was 20th overall with a throw of 46' 10 ¾".
  • Next was the seeded 200-meter dash, where Sam Freeman placed in the top ten in ninth place at 22.23 seconds, followed by Dakota Strain in 25th (22.69) and Liam Volz in 26th (22.76).
  • The last Ram on the track was Sean Reidy in the mile run invitational, taking 28th in 4:12.12.
 
WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS
  • Fordham had participants in six events on Saturday, which included the open and invitational versions of the mile run, the open long jump, the high jump invitational, the open pole vault, and the seeded 200 meters.
  • The day began with the open mile run, as Lauren Raimy placed 33rd in 5:12.09, followed by Sophia Oliva in 45th (5:18.60) and Alexis Smith in 47th (5:19.04).
  • Leia Ruvo earned a fourth place finish in the open long jump with a distance of 16' 8 ¾".
  • Tomara Seid took fourth overall in the open pole vault, clearing 11' 1 ¾", while Michaela Gier tied for tenth (10' 2").
  • In the high jump invitational, Zoe Arakelian tied for 11th overall, clearing 5' 4 ¼".
  • The 200-meter seeded event saw Alexandra Williams finish 14th with a season-best time of 25.36 seconds.
  • The next Rams' competitor was Jodie Pierce in the mile run invitational, finishing seventh overall in an ECAC qualifying time of 4:47.21.
  • The final Saturday runner for Fordham was Fabianna Szorenyi in the 5,000-meter invitational run, as she was 16th overall in 17:38.63.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
  • Fordham has its first Championship meet of the season, as the Rams compete at the Metropolitan Championship on Friday, January 30th, at the OBP Track & Field Complex, starting at 10:00 AM.
