Football Continues Spring Practice Season

Rams prep for Spring Game on April 26

Bronx, N.Y. (April 5, 2014) - Despite Mother Nature doing her best to still make it feel like winter, the Fordham University football squad is in the middle of the spring practice season, going through session number eight on Saturday afternoon on Murphy Field.

The Rams are looking to build on the success of the 2013 squad, a team that enjoyed one of the best seasons in school history, going 12-2 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA FCS playoffs. Along the way, Fordham won its first ten games of the year for the first time in school history, and were ranked as high as fifth in the NCAA FCS polls, Fordham's highest ever ranking on the FCS level. The Rams set a school record for most wins in a season in the modern era (since 1920) and accomplished a plethora of firsts, including the first win over an NCAA FBS team (Temple), the first win over a top-ten ranked NCAA FCS team on Jack Coffey Field (Villanova) and the school's first ever home NCAA FCS championship win on Jack Coffey Field (Sacred Heart). For his accomplishments, Moorhead was named the 2013 Patriot League Coach of the Year.

The spring season will be capped by the 2014 Spring Game which will occur on Saturday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m. on Coffey Field.

Here's a look at the 2014 Rams:

OFFENSE

The Rams also set school single season records with 7,214 total yards of offense, shattering the former school mark of 5,377 set by the 2009 team, and 5,052 passing yards, bettering the former record of 3,708 set in 2009.

On the national level, Fordham led the NCAA FCS in pass completion percentage (70.6%), was third in passing offense (360.9 yards/game) and total first downs (364), and seventh in total offense (515.3 yards/game) and finished the season with a 4,000-yard passer (
