Served as the backup to All-American quarterback Mike Nebrich last fall… led Rams to win when he took over for an injured Nebrich in the Bucknell game… had two 300-yard passing games in 2013… completed 17 of 25 passes for 178 yards in 2013 Spring Game… split the starting quarterback duties with Ryan Higgins as a freshman in 2011… started the first four games of 2011… the number one ranked quarterback in south Texas as a senior in high school… named to the 2011 and 2013 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

2013: Appeared in eight games as a junior… completed 45 of 78 passes for 672 yards and three scores… came on for the injured Mike Nebrich in the Bucknell game and completed 21 of 35 passes for 317 yards and one touchdown in the win… also rushed six times for 12 yards against Bucknell… completed 22 of 39 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns at Lafayette.

2012: Appeared in three games as a sophomore.

2011: Appeared in seven games as a freshman for the Rams, starting four… completed 70 of 117 passes for 668 yards and four touchdowns on the year...  completed 22 of 30 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns (16 and 60 yards) in the Liberty Cup win over Columbia… connected on 14 of 22 passes for 110 yards and one score (20 yards) at Colgate… opened season completing 12 of 25 passes for 149 yards at Connecticut… also got off a 53-yard punt at Connecticut… completed 19 of 35 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown (19 yards) and scored on a 19-yard rush at Rhode Island.

Before Fordham:  A graduate of Friendswood High School in Friends-wood, Texas, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball… played football for head coach Steve Van Meter… number one ranked passing quarterback in south Texas by the Houston Chronicle… completed 284 of 456 passes (62% completion rate) for 3,693 yards… set a school record at a school that has produced more than five Division I quarterbacks... scored 53 touchdowns in 2010 (33 passing, 19 rushing, 1 receiving)… scored 85 touchdowns in his high school career… 5-A Honorable Mention All-State selection… District MVP and All-Academic… named Academic All-State… won numerous Player of the Week awards from the Houston and Galveston county media… member of the District 24 (AAAA) championship and state quarterfinal champions… a two-year team captain… member of the baseball team that advanced to the regional semi-finals… named Second Team All-District for basketball… named one of the top 50 athletes in Houston… recipient of the “Fighting Mustang” award as the school’s best overall athlete… member of the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society… member of the Distinguished Achievement Program and Principals Roundtable Committee.

Personal: Son of Sharon and Derek Maetzold… has an older brother, John, and an older sister, Emily, as well as a younger sister, Hannah… a Biology major.
