New York, N.Y. - (Jan. 13, 2012) - While a number of Fordham track & field athletes were on their way to New Haven, Connecticut for Saturday's Yale Invitational, another portion of the team was at the Armory Track & Field Center for Friday's NYC Gotham Cup. Overall, the Rams posted five top 15 finishes and three season-best marks.

Two of the season-best performances came in the field events, as junior Courtnay Newman tied for second overall in the high jump, clearing a season-best mark of 5'5", while junior Keegan Talty tied his season-best mark in the pole vault, clearing 14' 3 1/4" and tying for eighth overall.

The final season-best performances came from Lourenzo Smith, a member of the Fordham football team, who finished 21st in the 60 meter dash in 7.05 seconds.

Other top performances came from senior Elisabeth Warren, who was tenth in the long jump with a mark of 16' 9 1/4", freshman Sarah Glockenmeier, who was 13th in the mile run (5:26.21), freshman Daniel Green, who placed 11th in the unseeded 800 meter run (1:59.93), and senior Rich Grandelli, who finished 16th in the unseeded mile run (4:25.47).

In addition to these results, junior Christina Machado was 20th in the mile run (5:34.30), junior Daniel Chediak was 17th in the pole vault (13' 3 1/2") and 25th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.86), and sophomore Coral Hershkovitz was 25th in the unseeded 800 meter run (2:27.54).

The Fordham track & field team will be right back in action on Saturday at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Connecticut.
