Boston, Mass. – (March 8, 2025) – The Fordham track & field team is up in Boston, Massachusetts this weekend for the 2025 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championship.
The Rams had a stellar first day, scoring in two women's events, posting 14 qualifiers for Sunday's finals, and recording one school record.
The Fordham women are in eighth place with 11 points, as the Rams scored in the long jump and high jump events.
Jasmine Hope collected the bronze medal in the long jump, finishing third with a mark of 18' 1 ¼". She would also take tenth in the 60-meter dash at 7.76 seconds. Then in the high jump,
Zoe Arakelian scored fourth clearing 5' 4 ¼".
On top of scoring in two events, the Fordham women made their way into three Sunday finals in the 60-meter hurdles, mile run, and 1,000 meters.
Kylie Ritz and
Nicole Lytle both made the 60-meter hurdles final, posting time of 8.97 and 9.12 seconds, respectively.
Katarina Birimac qualified for the mile finals with a time of 4:52.43 with
Megan McCann doing so in the 1,000-meter event in a season-best time of 2:54.68.
The Rams also had competitors in the 200 meters and 400 meters with Ritz as the top performer in the 200 in 22
nd at 25.30 seconds, while
Alexandra Williams was 16
th in the 400 meters at 57.43 seconds.
On the men's side,
Sam Freeman had the highlight of the day, as he qualified for the 400-meter dash finals in a school record time of 47.75 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 48.11 seconds by Mark Porcaro in 2004. He will be joined in the Sunday final by
Nelson Lindsay (48.26) and
Kevin Callaghan (48.60), who also qualified.
Fordham found its way into four other Sunday finals, starting in the 60-meter hurdles, where
DaRon Elam qualified for the final in 8.55 seconds. He would also finish ninth in the high jump, clearing 6' 4". Then in the 200 meters,
Njam Abdul-Latif (21.62) and Liam Voz (21.96) both qualified for Sunday. Volz was also tenth in the 60-meter dash at 6.99 seconds.
A trio of Rams,
Sean Reidy (4:08.34),
Rodolfo Sanchez (4:08.38), and
Nathan Bezuneh (4:08.64), qualified for the mile run finals, while
Yariv Simhony will take part in the 500-meter dash final after running 1:05.32 on Saturday.
Fordham also had runners in the 800- and 1,000-meter runs with
John Corrigan (10
th – 1:54.01) being the top Ram in the 800 meters, with
Darren Croke taking 20
th in the 1,000 meters (2:31.75).
Sunday finals at the ECAC/IC4A Championship begin at 10:00 AM.
