New York, N.Y./Staten Island, N.Y. – (February 8, 2025) – The Fordham track & field team was in competition in two locations on Saturday at the 117
th Millrose Games, held at the Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory, and the Big Apple Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Complex on Staten Island.
At the Millrose Games, Fordham participated in the Michael C. Alcamo Men's College 4x400 relay and the DKC Women's College 4x400 relay. In the men's event, the Rams' team of
Kevin Callaghan,
Dakota Strain,
Matthew Nurse, and
Sam Freeman placed third in 3:18.34, while the women's team of
Michele Daye,
Alexandra Williams,
Dillyn Green, and AnnaMaria Ivits finished fourth with a season-best time of 3:53.46.
Over on Staten Island, a group of Rams took part in the Big Apple Invitational.
The highlights of the day came in the pole vault events with
Michaela Gier, who took third in the women's event as she cleared a school record 11' 1 ¾", besting her own mark of 11' 0" set earlier this year. In the men's event,
Michael Croke won the event, as he cleared a season-best 14' 5 ¼".
Fordham also posted season-bests in the women's shot put and men's long jump.
Tanicha Saintigene was third in the shot put with a mark of 40' 2 ¼", while
Constentino Proscia took second in the long jump at 22' 1 ¾". He would also finish sixth in the high jump, clearing 6' ¾".
In the mile run,
Grace Kenny was the top women's performer in 21
st at 5:22.52, while
Jake Frayler was 11
th in the men's event at 4:29.95.
In the 400 meters,
Nelson Lindsay had the first of two top five finishes as he placed fourth in 50.22 seconds. He later was fifth in the 200 meters at 22.64 seconds, while teammate
Jabril Carter was fourth in 22.48. In the women's 200 meters,
Riley Carroll placed 24
th in 26.78 seconds.
The 500 meters saw
George Pomer take third in 1:09.63, while in the 800 meters,
Cate Roche was eighth in the women's event (2:23.91) with
Anan Bauman placing 15
th on the men's side (2:01.96).
The last running event for the Rams was the men's 3,000 meters, where the tandem of
Matthew Mason (8:38.29) and
Tadael Mihret (8:42.00) were third and sixth, respectively.
In the remaining field events,
Lexi Fujita tied for fifth in the women's high jump (5' 1"), while
Ileana Chlorou was 15
th in the women's long jump (16' 2"). Lastly in the triple jump,
Luke Cramer was fourth (45' 1/4"), while
James Alati grabbed seventh in the men's event (40' 11 ¾") with
Ashley Holbrook in 18
th (33' 6") on the women's side. Additionally, Cramer was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.89) with Alati in fourth (8.84) and
Miguel Negrete in seventh (9.10).
Fordham is back on the track February 14-15 at the BU Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts.
