Fairfax, Va. – (May 5, 2024) – The 2024 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship has come to an end at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia, with the Fordham men's team placing tenth out of 13 teams with 29 points.
Fordham scored in six events on Sunday, highlighted by
Colin Flood taking the bronze medal in the 1,500 meters in a season-best time of 3:48.16. He placed just ahead of teammate
Rodolfo Sanchez, who was fourth in 3:48.53.
George Pomer posted a career-best score of 5,621 points in the decathlon to score sixth overall for the Rams. On day two, he was second in the 1,500 meters (4:46.99), fourth in the javelin (134' 2"), fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.39), and seventh in the pole vault (10' 4") and discus (92' 0").
Then in the high jump event,
DaRon Elam cleared 6' 4 ¾" to tie for fifth and tie his best mark of the season.
The Rams then scored in all three relay events, beginning in the 4x100 relay, as
Jabril Carter,
Matthew Nurse,
Liam Volz, and
Dakota Strain were fifth, tying a season-best at 42.18 seconds. Next was the 4x800 relay, where
John Corrigan, Sanchez,
Trevor Rinn, and Flood just missed the podium in fourth place in a season-best time of 7:34.39. Lastly, the 4x400 relay squad of Strain, Nurse,
Kevin Callaghan, and
Sam Freeman scored sixth in a season-best time of 3:15.33.
In other finals on Sunday,
Steven Zucca was 20
th in the 5,000 meters in 14:47.46, while
Justin Rhee was 11
th in the triple jump with a distance of 43' 7 ¼".
The Rams will next be in action on May 11-12 at the ECAC/IC4A Championship, which will be back at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia.
