Virginia Beach, Va. – (February 22, 2024) – For the first time in the conference's history, the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at a neutral location, as Fordham and the rest of the conference schools venture to the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia for the two-day championship.
All of the teams will be chasing the Rhode Island men and the VCU women as the defending team champions. Rhode Island has won the last three men's titles, as well as nine overall since 2010. The VCU women have taken home the team title the last two seasons, and six of the last eight.
Fordham has never won the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. The men's team has finished as high as third in the team standings, which has happened three times in 2005, 2011, and 2012. The women's highest finish was fourth at the 1996 Championship. For scoring totals, the Rams will look to surpass their previous best of 94 points for the men (2005) and 73 for the women (2006).
Action at the championship begins on Friday morning with the women's pentathlon and the first half of the men's heptathlon events at 9:00 AM. Other field event finals on day one will be the long jump, pole vault, and weight throw. Most of the running events will be time trials on day one to set up the finals on Saturday, however, the finals of the 5,000 meters and distance medley relay will wrap up the first day of competition.
Non-time trial running finals that are set for Saturday include the mile run, 3,000 meters, 4x800 relay, and 4x400 relay. The men's heptathlon will conclude on day two along with the field event finals in the shot put, triple jump, and high jump.
Live results will be available through Blue Ridge Timing on the A-10 Championship Central page.
