Bronx, N.Y. – (May 23, 2025) – A stellar year for Fordham graduate student
Katarina Birimac will continue next week, as she was invited to compete in the NCAA East Regional of the NCAA Track & Field Championship.
Birimac qualified in the 10,000-meter run at the East First Round, which will be hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Her time of 33:48.47 at the Penn Relays ranked 39
th in the East to get into the field.
She is the first Ram to qualify for NCAAs since 2019, when Ryan Kutch (10,000m), Brian Cook (steeplechase), and Laurel Fisher (steeplechase) all qualified and competed.
The co-recipient of the Hobbs Family Award as Fordham female student-athlete of the year, Birimac has had an amazing run with the Rams this season. She earned All-Conference honors in cross country, after taking second overall at the Atlantic 10 Championship. At the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship, she was the league champion in the 5,000 meters, while taking bronze in the 3,000 meters. Then at the Outdoor Track & Field Championship, she captured the league crown in the 10,000 meters.
Additionally, Birimac earned three Metropolitan Championship titles this season in the indoor mile, the indoor 1,000 meters, and the outdoor 1,500 meters, and took silver in the indoor mile run at the 2025 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.
