Jacksonville, Fla. – (May 29, 2025) – An outstanding season for Fordham graduate student
Katarina Birimac concluded on Thursday night at the NCAA East Regional of the NCAA Track & Field Championship, held at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.
Birimac competed in the 10,000-meter run, which was the final event of the day. She finished 34
th out of 48 runners, posting a time of 34:37.19.
The field of runners was a highly competitive field, which saw 10 runners break the Hodges Stadium facility record of 33:06.86. N.C. State's Grace Hartman posted the top time in the 10,000 meters at 32:32.80. The top 12 runners in the event advanced to the 10,000-meter final at the NCAA Championship, June 11-14, in Eugene, Oregon.
She was the first Ram to qualify for NCAAs since 2019, when Ryan Kutch (10,000m), Brian Cook (steeplechase), and Laurel Fisher (steeplechase) all qualified and competed.
The co-recipient of the Hobbs Family Award as Fordham female student-athlete of the year, Birimac had an amazing run with the Rams this season. She earned All-Conference honors in cross country, after taking second overall at the Atlantic 10 Championship. At the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship, she was the league champion in the 5,000 meters, while taking bronze in the 3,000 meters. Then at the Outdoor Track & Field Championship, she captured the league crown in the 10,000 meters.
Additionally, Birimac earned three Metropolitan Championship titles this season in the indoor mile, the indoor 1,000 meters, and the outdoor 1,500 meters, and took silver in the indoor mile run at the 2025 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.
