Staten Island, N.Y. – (December 7, 2024) – The Fordham track & field team saw its first action of the indoor season on Saturday at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational, hosted by St. John's at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. No team scoring was kept.
Overall, Fordham won five events on the day, starting with
Katarina Birimac in the women's 3,000-meter run. She placed first with a time of 9:56.40. She was also a part of the 4x800 relay with
Lauren Raimy,
Sophia Oliva, and
Grace Kenny, which also grabbed first in 9:58.63. The last winner for the women by
Jasmine Hope, who took the long jump with a distance of 18' 11 ¾".
On the men's side,
Sam Freeman won the 400-meter dash in 49.92 seconds, while
Michael Croke took the top spot in the pole vault event, clearing 13' 11 ¼".
