Amherst, Mass. – (May 6, 2023) – Day one of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship has concluded at the UMass Track & Field Complex in Amherst, Massachusetts with the Fordham women sitting in sixth place out of 15 teams.
George Mason holds the day one lead after seven events were scored with 68 points, followed by Massachusetts (63.5), Dayton (34.5), VCU (31.5), Rhode Island (18), and Fordham (14) to round out the top six.
The Rams scored in three events on day one, highlighted by
Kathryn Kelly in the women's long jump, as she took bronze in the event with a distance of 19' 6".
Skylar Harris just missed scoring in the event, placing ninth at 18' 5 ¼", while
Leia Ruvo was 11
th at 18' 1".
Fordham almost had a second podium finish on Saturday in the high jump, where
Jana Rokitta scored fourth with a season-best jump of 5' 6".
Alexandra Manetovic tied for tenth in the event at 5' 2 ¼" with Ruvo in 16
th at 5' ¼".

The last of the field event competitors was
Casey Metzler in the hammer throw, as she finished 16
th at 131' 6".
On the track, the day began with the 10,000-meter run, where
Caroline McDonagh scored sixth in the ECAC qualifying time of 36:20.12.
Nathania Tan also qualified for the ECAC Championship, clocking in at 37:10.89, good for 11
th overall.
The next two events saw Rams set new season-bests for the team.
Nicole Lytle posted a season-best time of 15.42 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles with
Molly Mulvaney having a season-best time of 59.22 seconds in the 400-meter dash (29
th).
Fordham then posted qualifiers for Sunday finals in three of the next four events, starting with the 100-meter dash. Kelly qualified fifth in the 100 meters in a school record and ECAC qualifying time of 11.86 seconds, while
Kyla Hill qualified ninth at 12.00 seconds.
Dillyn Green was 14
th at 12.29 seconds.
The same trio was also at work in the 200-meter dash, where Hill qualified for her second Sunday final in eighth in an ECAC qualifying time of 24.52 seconds. Kelly also posted an ECAC qualifier at 24.71 seconds, good for 12
th, with Green in 22
nd at 25.27.
Then in the 800 meters,
Helen Connolly squeezed into the Sunday final in ninth place, as she ran a season-best time of 2:13.04, followed by
Mary Kathryn Underwood in 11
th (2:13.84) and
Taylor Mascetta in 30
th (2:21.50).
For the remaining competitors on day one,
Sophia Crucs finished 18
th overall in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.40, while
Sarah Raubenheimer and
Clodagh McGroary finished 19
th (12:05.61) and 21
st (12:18.79), respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The Championship concludes on Sunday with the first event starting at 9:15 AM.
