Williamsburg, Va. – (March 31, 2023) – The Fordham track & field team began its two-day stay at the Colonial Relays on Friday, hosted by William & Mary.
The top performers in the track events for the Rams came in the final event of the day in the 10,000-meter run Invitational, where
Caroline McDonagh was fourth in the women's event in 36:28.79, while
Steven Zucca also took fourth in the men's event in 30:14.98.
The day began with the women's 5,000-meter run, where
Madeleine Ryan placed 21
st overall in 18:44.50.
Next was the 800 meters, where
Molly Mulvaney was 41
st in the women's event in 2:24.14 with
Eric Jacobson finishing 34
th in 1:58.36.
The sprints were next with
Kathryn Kelly taking 15
th in the 100-meter dash in 12.12 seconds, with teammate
Dillyn Green in 28
th at 12.43 seconds. Then in the men's event,
Kenneth Maxwell was 42
nd in 11.15 seconds.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Sophia Crucs placed 35
th in the women's event in 1:10.05, while
George Pomer was 25
th in 1:00.07.
In the 400-meter dash, a trio of men's finishers were led by
Matthew Nurse, who clocked in at 50.25 seconds for 36
th overall.
Erik Brown (51.65) and
Isaiah James (51.67) were then 59
th and 60
th respectively. Then in the 200-meter dash,
Liam Volz was 43
rd in 22.88 seconds.
Then came the 1,500-meter event, beginning with
Alexandra Thomas taking 11
th overall in 4:47.45, followed by
Taylor Mascetta in 14
th (4:48.31) and
Marin Bogulski in 16
th (4:48.87). On the men's side,
Ben Borchers was the top Ram in fifth place at 3:54.65, with
Nathan Bezuneh in 15
th (3:56.83) and
Darren Croke in 40
th (4:00.11). In the Invitational edition of the 1,500 meters,
Colin Flood was 12
th overall in a time of 3:52.96.
In day one field events for the men, Pomer tied for tenth in the high jump, clearing 5' 10 ½", while
Justin Rhee was 17
th in the long jump at 21' ½".
Then for the women, the Rams had competitor in both the regular and Invitational editions of the long jump, with Kelly taking fourth in the Invitational with a distance of 18' 6", while
Skylar Harris (17' 6 ¾") and
Leia Ruvo (17' 4 ¼") were seventh and ninth, respectively, in the regular edition. The events ended with
Casey Metzler in the women's hammer throw Invitational, placing 13
th with a distance of 138' 1".
The Colonial Relays conclude on Saturday, starting at 10:00 AM.
