Kingston, R.I. – (February 26, 2023) – The 2023 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship has come to a close at URI's Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, Rhode Island.
In the women's championship, VCU won the title with 149 points, followed by George Mason (116), Richmond (92), La Salle (67), Massachusetts (66), Rhode Island (62), Davidson (57), Duquesne (48), Dayton (36), Fordham (27), Loyola Chicago (25), George Washington (18), Saint Louis (8), Saint Joseph's (7), and St. Bonaventure (0).
The Rams scored in five events on day two with
Kyla Hill netting points in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash finals. Hill earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 200-meter dash , posting a time of 24.55 seconds, while scoring fourth in the 60 meters in 7.61 seconds.
Mary Kathryn Underwood then scored in the finals of the 800-mter run, placing seventh in 2:18.62.
Fordham picked up its second medal of the day in the high jump, as
Jana Rokitta took silver and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, clearing 5' 8 ½".
Leia Ruvo was tenth in the event at 5' 3", while
Alexandra Manetovic and
Allison Burton tied for 12
th at 5' 1". Manetovic also competed in the triple jump, placing 11
th at 36' 5 ½".
In the remaining individual events,
Alexandra Thomas was 21
st overall in the mile run at 5:17.85, while in the 3,000-meter run,
Caroline McDonagh was also 21
st in 10:22.42 with
Nathania Tan in 29
th at 10:37.73. Then in the shot put,
Tiffany Hanna placed 15
th with a distance of 38' 4" with
Amanda Gurth in 20
th at 36' 2 ¾".
The championship concluded with the 4x800 and 4x400 relay events. In the 4x800 relay, Fordham's group of
Helen Connolly,
Molly Mulvaney, Underwood, and
Marin Bogulski finished ninth in 9:26.83, while the 4x400 relay team of
Dillyn Green,
Alexandra Williams, Hill, & Connolly scored seventh in 3:56.31.
Fordham will conclude the indoor season next weekend at the ECAC/IC4A Championship, March 4-5, in Boston.
