Boston, Mass. – (January 27, 2023) – Action at the River Hawk Invitational, held at the TRACK at new balance in Boston, Massachusetts, began on Friday with the Fordham women's track & field team taking center stage with an excellent showing.
Highlighting the day,
Kyla Hill broke the school record in the 60-meter dash, finishing second overall in 7.60 seconds. She bested the record that she co-held with
Kathryn Kelly at 7.61 seconds. Additionally, Hill won the 200-meter dash in 24.49 seconds.
Joining Hill in the winner's circle was
Jana Rokitta, who took first in the high jump event, clearing 5' 7".
Just missing out on winning an event was
Mary Kathryn Underwood and
Nathania Tan for Fordham. Underwood was second in the 500-meter run in 1:17.52, while Tan grabbed second in the 5,000-meter run in 18:03.22.
The Rams added four other top ten finishes on Friday, beginning with
Helen Connolly, who took tenth in the 800-meter run in 2:17.15, ahead of teammate's
Jilli Jones (13
th – 2:20.22) and
Molly Mulvaney (20
th - 2:21.66). Then,
Alexandra Thomas grabbed sixth in the 3,000-meter run in 10:20.27, ahead of teammate
Caroline McDonagh (14
th – 10:41.16).
Marin Bogulski finished eighth in the 1,000-meter run in 2:59.57 with the 4x400 relay team of Jones, Underwood Mulvaney, and Connolly ending up ninth in 4:04.98.
Others competitors for Fordham on Friday included,
Madeleine Ryan in the mile (19
th – 5:27.47),
Alexandra Williams in the 400-meter dash (22
nd – 1:00.75),
Tiffany Hanna in the weight throw (11
th – 47' 10") and shot put (25
th – 36' 8 ¼"), and
Casey Metzler in the weight throw (17
th – 46' 10").
Day two of the River Hawk Invitational will feature all of the men's events, beginning at 10:00 AM.
