Baseball Welcomes Newcomers for 2023 Season

Rams Add 15 New Players for the Upcoming Season

Bronx, N.Y. – (August 12, 2022) – Fordham baseball head coach Kevin Leighton announced the Rams recruiting class for the upcoming 2023 season.
 
Here is a look at all the newcomers for next season:
 
Aric Berg – Pitcher – Encino, Calif./Chaminade
 
Berg was a varsity baseball player at Chaminade College Prep in West Hills, California, where he served team captain and was team MVP.  He was a two-time First Team All-Mission League performer and a Second Team All-Southern Section, as selected by SBlive California.   For summer ball, he played for Legacy Baseball Group.
 
Away from the field, Berg was a four-year Baseball Academic Achievement Award winner, while earning Maxima Cum Laude (2021 Fall) and Magna Cum Laude (2022 Spring) honors during his final two semesters.
 
Liam Bowes – Catcher – Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River
 
Bowes was a four-year varsity baseball player at Shoreham-Wading River High School in New York.  A two-year captain, he was a 2022 All-County and 2021 All-League selection.  As a senior, he batted a single season team record .529 batting average with nine doubles, five home runs, and 28 RBI, earning Offensive Team MVP honors.  Academically, he was a member of the National Honor Society and was recipient of the English Department Award.
 
For summer ball, Bowes played for the East Coast Lumberjacks, which won the 2021 17U Perfect Game BCS National Championship, finishing the season ranked 18th in the nation by Perfect Game and #1 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Over the course of four seasons with his class, he hit .410 with 64 doubles and 163 RBI. 
 
Bo Bramer – Outfielder – Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic
 
Bramer was a multi-sport athlete at Taconic High School in Massachusetts, where he helped the team win two State Championships in 2019 and 2021.  A senior year captain, he was the 2022 Berkshire County MVP and earned First Team All-Western Massachusetts twice.  He finished his career setting school records for runs scored and stolen bases.
 
A member of the National Honor Society, Bramer played summer ball for Chet Lemon's Juice U17, helping the team win Perfect Game Tournament Championships at the Sunshine State Summer Classic and the Freedom Classic.
 
Michael Brueser – Outfielder – Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton (Arizona St.)
 
Brueser is a junior transfer from Arizona State, where he played the last two seasons, appearing in 10 games for the Sun Devils.  Before Arizona State, he was a varsity baseball player at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, posting a career batting average of .348 and an on-base percentage of .457.  He also totaled 18 home runs, 77 RBI, and 79 runs scored.  He was named to the 6A AZBCA Second Team All-State in 2019 and was listed as the #16 overall prospect in Arizona by PerfectGame.
 
Daniel Bucciero – Infielder/Outfielder – Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield
 
Bucciero was a varsity baseball player at Ridgefield High School in Connecticut, serving as team captain.  He was a two-time All-FCIAC pick and was selected to the Senior All-Star Game.  He also received the Tiger Pride Award as a senior, which goes to a player who demonstrates great leadership and is a great teammate.  Bucciero additionally played summer ball for Baseball U CT, which won the NEB Elite 8.  He was also named to the 2021 WWBA 17U National Championship All-Tournament team.
 
Away from the field, Bucciero is a member of the National Honor Society and the High Honor Roll.
 
Dominic Cunha – Pitcher – Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln (Wheaton)
 
Cunha is a graduate transfer from Wheaton College, where he spent the last four years.  Over his stay, he appeared in 45 games on the mound with a 3.57 ERA and 53 strikeouts.  In 2022, he led the team with 10 saves, which ranked sixth in the country, to go with 28 strikeouts and a 3.92 ERA.  For his efforts, he was selected to the D3Baseball.com All-Region Third Team and helped the squad win both the NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships.
 
Prior to Wheaton, Cunha was a four-year baseball player at Lincoln High School in Rhode Island, earning All-State honors as a senior, while being a two-time All-Division selection.  A two-year captain, he received the team's Cy Young Award as a senior.
 
Peter DeMaria – Infielder – Chatham, N.J./Chatham (Tufts)
 
DeMaria is a graduate transfer from Tufts College, where he had a solid career, earning First Team NESCAC All-Conference honors three times (2019, 2021, and 2022), as well the 2019 NESCAC Rookie of the Year.  He began his career, batting .361 with 40 RBI and helping the team capture the program's sixth NESCAC Championship and advance to the NCAA Regional.  He also earned a spot on the NCAA All-Regional team.  After hitting .370 in 2021, DeMaria finished his Tufts' career as a 2022 ABCA/Rawlings and D3Baseball.com First Team All-Region selection, leading the squad with a .407 batting average to go with eight home runs and 37 RBI.
 
Prior to Tufts, DeMaria was a multi-sport athlete at Chatham High School and team captain of both the baseball and soccer teams.  He was a two-time First Team All-NJAC selection for baseball as well as a Third Team All-State pick.  Off the field, he was a member of the National Honor Society and the World Language Honor Society for Spanish.
 
Ryan Egan – Pitcher – Clinton, Conn./Taft School
 
Egan was a varsity baseball and hockey player at the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut.  A two-year baseball captain, he was named First Team All-Founders League and Second Team All-New England in 2022 and was recipient of the Coaches Award.  For summer ball, he played for The Clubhouse, which won the PG WWBA Championship and PG Super 25 Championship in 2021 and ranked in the top 32 teams in the nation.  Individually, he earned five All-Tournament Team nods and was named Most Valuable Pitcher at the 2021 Northeast World Series.
 
Academically, Egan is a multi-year member of the honor roll.
 
Thomas McAndrews – Catcher – Haverhill, Mass./Phillips Andover
 
McAndrews was a varsity baseball and football player at Phillips Andover in Massachusetts.  A team captain, he won the Central New England Prep MVP award and earned First Team All-League honors, helping his team win the 2022 CNEPSBL Championship.  He was named an All-Star and given the Foxhole Award by the Eagle Tribune, while also receiving honors from the New England Baseball Journal.
 
Additionally, McAndrews played summer ball for North East Baseball, making the 2021 17U BCS National Championship All-Tournament team.  Away from the field, he was the recipient of the Raymond T. Tippett Memorial Award.
 
Ryan Rockhill – Catcher – Eastchester, N.Y./Tuckahoe (Maritime)
 
Rockhill is a graduate transfer from Maritime College, where he played four seasons for the Privateers.  He was a three-time All-Skyline Conference selection, earning First Team honors in 2021 after hitting .379, while garnering Second Team accolades in 2022, batting .286 with 20 runs scored and 18 RBI. In 2019, he also earned First Team accolades as a freshman, batting .294 over 29 games.
 
Prior to Maritime, Rockhill was a two-time All-State honoree at Tuckahoe High School in New York.  A team captain, he was named the Class "C" Player of the Year in 2018, as well as All-League and All-Section honors.  Away from the field, he was a member of the National Honor Society.
 
Nathan Rusher – Pitcher – Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll
 
Rusher was a varsity baseball player at Southlake Carroll High School in Texas, pitching his team to the 2022 6A State Championship.  He posted a 1.20 ERA, earning Second Team All-District and First Team All-Academic honors for the 2022 season.
 
Off the field, Rusher was a multi-year member of the National Honor Society.
 
Austin Sachen – Pitcher – Los Angeles, Calif./Chaminade (Washington U. - St. Louis)
 
Sachen is a graduate transfer from Washington University in St. Louis, where he pitched four seasons for the team.  A three-time Academic-All-UAA and Dean's List selection, he had a solid 2022 season, starting 11 games and recording 4-2 mark with 73 strikeouts and 45.2 innings pitched.  The year prior, he helped Bears make it all the way to the NCAA Division III College World Series, striking out 34 batters over 18.2 innings with a 3.38 ERA.
 
Previously, Sachen is a graduate of Chaminade College Prep in California, where he was a two-year member of the baseball team and a Scholar Athlete Award winner.
 
Nate Scott – Pitcher – New Providence, N.J./New Providence (Ithaca)
 
Scott is a junior transfer from Ithaca College, where he appeared in 24 games over the past two seasons.  He posted an 8-6 record with a 4.37 ERA and 77 strikeouts over 94.2 inning pitched.  In 2022, he was a Liberty League Honorable Mention after going 7-4 on the mound with 56 strikeouts in over 70 innings of work.
 
Will Simeone – Pitcher – Milton, Mass./IMG Academy (Fla.) (Trinity)
 
Simeone is a graduate transfer from Trinity College, where he was a four-year member of the Bantams.  In his first year, he helped the Bantams to the NCAA Division III Regionals, earning NESCAC Pitcher of the Week once during the year.  He finished the year with 34 strikeouts over 40 innings with two wins and two saves to his credit.  Over the last two seasons, he added two more wins and two saves over 13 appearances.
 
Prior to Trinity, Simeone attended IMG Academy in Florida, where he earned Most Improved Pitcher honors as a senior and was a member of the National Honor Society.
 
Jack Vallario – Infielder – Dix Hills, N.Y./St. Anthony's
 
Vallario was a four-year varsity baseball player at St. Anthony's High School in New York, where he was a Newsday Top 100 player in each of the last two years.  A two-year captain and team MVP, he was the 2021 NSCHSAA Player of the Year after posting a .405 batting average, a .577 on-base percentage, and .676 slugging percentage.  That season earned him a spot of Perfect Game's Preseason All-American team for 2022.
 
For summer ball, Vallario plays for the Long Island Titans, which most recently won the 17U Super 25 Northeast Super Qualifier.  Individually, he was named to the All-Tournament Team at the 2021 WWBA National Championship and the 18U WWBA Northeast Jupiter Qualifier.
