Randall's Island, N.Y. – (April 9, 2022) – It was a historic day for the Fordham women's track & field team at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island on Saturday afternoon, as the Rams won the 2022 Metropolitan Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the first time in program history.

By winning the outdoor championship, the Fordham women also completed the Metropolitan Championship trifecta for the first time, as the team also won the cross country and indoor track & field championships earlier this year.

Fordham totaled a score of 152 points in the team standings, followed by Columbia (116), Manhattan (84), St. John's (78.5), Wagner (49), Fairleigh Dickinson (43), NJIT (40), LIU (35), St. Francis Brooklyn (34.5), Iona (31), Saint Peter's (28.5), NYU (24.5), Hofstra (19), Rutgers (18), and Ramapo (15).

The day had a great beginning with the 4x100 relay team of Sarah Galvin, Kathryn Kelly, Dominique Valentine, and Kyla Hill winning the event with a season-best time of 47.67 seconds.

Helen Connolly and Germaine Harbaugh followed by scoring third (4:51.00) and sixth (4:55.80), respectively in the 1,500-meter run.2022WMETChamps-OTF1

The Rams did not score in the 100-meter dash, as Valentine was the top performer at 12.68 seconds, which was good for 12th overall.  However, three Rams found the scoring column in the 400-meter dash, led by Hill taking silver in a season-best time of 57.47 seconds.  Connolly was then seventh (1:00.80) with Galvin in eighth (1:00.84).

The next two events to finish were on the field side of the championship.  Tiffany Hanna scored seventh in the shot put with a mark of 38' 11 ½", while Kathryn Kelly won the long jump event with a distance of 18' 10 ¾".  Both Hanna and Kelly added to the Rams' scoring later in the day, as Kelly grabbed third in the 200-meter dash, as she tied a season-best time with 24.99 seconds.  Hanna then set her third school record of the season, as she placed second in the discus throw at 147' 11", breaking the previous mark of 135' 8", set by Lindsey Kingsland in 2007.

The points continued to roll in during the 800-meter run, as the trio of Bridget Alex, Taylor Mascetta, and Mary Kathryn Underwood finished third (2:18.74), sixth (2:19.70), and eighth (2:21.27), respectively.  Sophia Crucs then placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 1:07.70.

The final individual running event was the 5,000-meter run, where Emmy Longmore was ninth overall in 20:53.60.

Fordham then closed out the championship with two event wins and a second-place finish to secure the team title.  First, Jade Dyer-Kennedy won the triple jump event with a mark of 35' 9 ½", while Jordan McCray-Robinson and Bridie Bommentre scored sixth (32' 10 ½") and seventh (32' 8 ½"), respectively.
