Williamsburg, Va. – (April 2, 2022) – The 56
th Annual Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary claim to a close on Saturday in Williamsburg, Virginia with the Fordham track & field team placing 12
th in the women's team competition and 21
st in the men's team standings.
The Fordham women scored an additional 16 points on Saturday to add to the 10 from Friday from
Kathryn Kelly's long jump event win. The scoring began in the 4x100 relay, where
Sarah Galvin,
Dominique Valentine, Kelly, and
Kyla Hill scored eighth in 47.90 seconds.
Then, the 4x200 relay team of Valentine, Kelly,
Ruby Avila, and Hill netted a third-place finish in 1:39.24, while the distance medley relay group of
Alexandra Thomas,
Molly Mulvaney,
Mary Kathryn Underwood, and
Bridget Alex took fourth overall in 12:11.67.
The final scorer for the Rams was
Helen Connolly in the 800-meter championship invitational run, where she placed seventh in 2:15.03.
Taylor Mascetta (2:16.19) and
Jilli Jones (2:24.45) also competed in the 800 invitational, placing 11
th and 22
nd, respectively.
In other championship events on Saturday, the sprint medley relay team of
Michele Daye, Galvin,
Sophia Crucs, and
Marin Bogulski finished ninth in 4:17.01, as did the 4x1500 relay of
Nicoleta Papavasilakis,
Maddy Kopec, Mascetta and Bogulski in 20:33.98. Lastly, the 4x400 relay of Valentine, Connolly, Avila and Daye were 14
th in 3:57.90.

In the university division events,
Amanda Gurth was 18
th in both the shot put (35' 7 ¼") and the discus throw (105' 2"), while Kelly (36' 4 ¾") and
Jade Dyer-Kennedy (36' 4 ¼") took 10
th and 12
th place in the triple jump.
For the men, Fordham added nine points to its eight from Friday for a total of 17. The top scorer for the championship events was the 4x400 relay team of
Zalen Nelson,
Jeremiah LaDuca,
Patrick Tuohy, and
Erik Brown, who finished fifth in a time of 3:17.47. The Rams also scored in the distance medley relay, where
Nathan Bezuneh,
Eric Jacobson,
Christopher Strzelinski, and
Justin Lombardi took seventh in 10:15.70.
The final event the Rams scored in was the 800-meter invitational run, where LaDuca scored sixth in 1:51.13, while Nelson just missed scoring in ninth place at 1:51.83. The last championship event was the sprint medley relay, as
Robert LeFevre, Manuel Guzman,
Chase Krug, and
Thomas Lewis placed 11
th in 3:43.63.
In the university division events,
Alec Wargo was 14
th in the discus throw with a mark of 111' 10", while
Justin Rhee finished 16
th in the triple jump at 41' 1 ¼".
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action April 8-9 at the Metropolitan Championship, which will be at Ichan Stadium on Randall's Island.
