Princeton, N.J. – (April 15, 2022) – The Fordham track & field team is at the two-day Larry Ellis Invitational this weekend, hosted by Princeton University, and had a prosperous opening day of competition.
The day began with the field events, as
Kathryn Kelly placed fifth in the women's long jump event with a mark of 18' 5 ¾".
Next was the women's hammer throw, where
Tiffany Hanna continued her special outdoor season for the Rams, as she once again broke the school record, improving her own record from 154' 5 ½" to 155' 4" on Friday, which was good for 12
th in the event.
Casey Metzler joined her teammate in the top 20, finishing 19
th overall in the hammer with a mark of 145' 0.

The attention then swung to the track and the 800-meter run. In the women's event,
Helen Connolly had the top time for Fordham, as she took 18
th overall with a season-best time of 2:14.42, followed by
Taylor Mascetta in 30
th (2:17.08) and
Jilli Jones in 35
th (2:21.62). The men's event saw
Zalen Nelson placed 14
th in 1:52.02, while
Jeremiah LaDuca took 26
th overall in 1:53.78.
The day finished with the distance running events with
Brandon Hall and
Steven Zucca competing in the men's unseeded 5,000-meter run and
Germaine Harbaugh taking part in the women's 10,000-meter run.
Hall posted a season-best time in the 5,000 meters, as he placed 16
th in 14:29.09 with Zucca in 27
th at 14:51.88.
Harbaugh then took to the track, as she capped the first day by winning the 10,000-meter run in a season-best time of 36:27.66.
The Larry Ellis Invitational concludes on Saturday with events beginning at noon.
