Lawrenceville, N.J. – (March 26, 2022) – The Fordham track & field team headed down the Jersey Turnpike on Saturday to take part in the Rider 5-Way Invitational, hosted at the Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex in Lawrenceville, N.J.
The Rams had a solid day on the track and in the field events with the women finishing third out of five teams with 128 points, while the men were fourth out of five teams with 65 points.
Highlighting the day, the Rams won three events on Saturday, starting with the opening event of the day, the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Clodagh McGroary won the event with a time of 11:57.90, followed by teammate
Maddy Kopec taking third in the event in 12:22.12.
Later in the meet,
Tiffany Hanna earned the event win in the women's discus throw with a mark of 134' 5", while the men's 4x400 relay team of
Antony Misko,
Erik Brown,
Zalen Nelson and
Patrick Tuohy won their event in a time of 3:24.46.
The Rams had a multitude of high finishes, starting in the 1,500 meters, as
Helen Connolly (4:47.22),
Germaine Harbaugh (4:51.38), and
Bridget Alex (4:52.05) finished 2-3-4, respectively, while on the men's side Nelson grabbed third overall in 4:01.07 with
Christopher Strzelinski in fifth (4:04.59).
In the 400 meters,
Kyla Hill took second in the women's event in 57.89 seconds with Connolly in fifth place at 1:00.94. On the men's side, Nelson had the top time at 50.05 seconds, good for sixth.
The 800-meter run saw
Eric Jacobson (1:58.53) and Brown (1:58.77) take third and fourth place, respectively, with
Alexandra Thomas having the top time for the women at 2:28.97, good for sixth.

The Rams then had a pair of third place finishes in the 400-meter hurdles with
Molly Mulvaney in third for the women at 1:10.09, while
Chase Krug grabbed third for the men in 1:03.89.
Dominique Valentine recorded Fordham's best time in the 200-meter dash at 26.30 seconds, which was fifth overall, with
Robert LeFevre having the top men's time at 22.67 seconds (6
th).
The final track events with Fordham competitors were the women's 3,000-meter run and 4x400 relay.
Caroline McDonagh grabbed second in the 3K run in 10:49.76, as did the women's 4x400 relay consisting of Valentine,
Sarah Galvin,
Jilli Jones, and Mulvaney, who clocked in at 4:02.65.
In the field events,
Andrew Ramsammy was fifth in the men's high jump, clearing 6' ½" with
Justin Rhee placing fourth in the triple jump at 42' 6".
Alec Wargo then took sixth in the javelin throw (132' 3"), seventh in the hammer throw (128 3") and ninth in the discus throw (118' 2")
In addition to her win in the women's discus throw, Hanna took fifth in the shot put at 37' 6 ¾", with
Kathryn Kelly (36 7") and
Jade Dyer-Kennedy (34' 6 ¼") placing fourth and eighth in the triple jump event.
Casey Metzler was then second in the hammer throw with a distance of 142' 11" with
Amanda Gurth placing sixth in the discus throw at 106' 3".
